2008 Senior Programs 

 
Quilt WinnersTwenty budding stitchers recently tried their hand at quilting at Parkview Apartments, 4451 Forest Park Ave. In the eight-week class, instructor Jean Ameduri taught residents basic quilting techniques, guiding participants as they created their own quilting projects. At the end of the class, the quilts were judged on design, stitching and overall pattern structure by a panel of four judges: Dan Krasnoff, executive director of Central West End Midtown Development; Robert Batts, deputy director of St. Louis Housing Authority; Brenda Gillis, director of finance; and Clint Grigley, property supervisor of Habitat Management.

Top quilting honors went to Thelma Hellems (1st place), Velam Mason (2nd place) and Debbie Gurlly (3rd place). The winner quilts will be place in the upcoming Senior Olympics Art competition. All 20 participants was present certificates of participation. 
 
In August, an art class on painting and designing holiday items will be offered at Park Place Apartments, 4399 Forest Park Ave. Later in the year, a class focusing on healthy eating and exercise will be held at West Pine Apartments, 4490 West Pine.

These programs are funded by CWE Midtown Development through the Community Development Block Grant program.
