Operation Brightside

About 170 residents and volunteers from Botanical Heights, Tiffany, and Forest Park Southeast battled challenging weather conditions Saturday, April 19th in a collective effort to beautify their communities in the annual Operation Brightside Blitz. Neighbors and volunteers gathered at predetermined locations to register and receive assignments from their Area Commanders. Despite the early morning rainfall, Botanical Heights was graced by a visit from St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, who took a moment to chat with residents of the neighborhood before heading to his next stop. After some coffee and friendly conversation, everyone headed out to clean and remove trash from alleys, streets, and vacant lots. Neighbors also worked on the community gardens, preparing them for a large spring planting project. Approximately 300 bags of refuge were collected.
