Welcome to 17thwardstl.org! After months in the making, we are proud to launch our website.
In the last seven years, the 17th Ward has experienced an extraordinary rebirth with over $1.7 billion in new construction, including 2,800 new or renovated living units. That’s more than one new or substantially renovated living unit for each day. About one out of three residents are now living in new or renovated homes.
Needless to say, managing that kind of transition can be challenging. I believe communication is the most effective tool to manage this rapid change. That is the reason for launching 17thwardstl.org. It is intended to augment -- not replace -- our current communication channels of neighborhood meetings, newsletters, and town hall meetings.
I’d like to think of this as a virtual town hall meeting that is always in session. On this site, you can learn about planned developments, upcoming events, and gain insight into where our neighborhoods have been and where they are going. As we begin filling our website with content, please help us by sharing ideas about what you would find meaningful.
