Current projects

McRee street improvements

McRee will undergo various street improvements in an effort to calm traffic and beautify the area. Improvements will include rain gardens and street planters.

Playground

Residents are searching for funding for a playground to be located at Blaine and Thurman.

Thurman underpass

Park Central Development completed a neighborhood needs survey in which the majority voted to open up the Thurman underpass between Lafayette and De Tonty. PCDC will investigate opening this intersection with further neighborhood input.

Tower Grove re-striping and cycling infrastructure

Residents supported the decision to re-stripe Tower Grove Avenue to narrow lanes to single lane in each direction along with a bike lane. The re-striping will calm traffic in the area.

Past Projects

Plastic(k) Pavilion

A shade structure designed by WashU School of Architecture was installed summer 2011 at Blaine and Thurman, adjacent to the future playground site.

McRee Two Way

McRee between Thurman and Tower Grove was converted to two-way in an effort to slow down traffic and aid auto circulation in the neighborhood.

Global Farm

The Global Farm, an employment training site for the International Institute, was installed on Folsom between Thurman and Lawrence.

Botanical Heights Community Garden Orchard
The Botanical Heights Community Garden received a grant for 29 trees, berry bushes, and an irrigation line which were placed at the community garden mid-October, located at Folsom and Thurman. Park Central Development funded the installation of a water line at the garden watering the orchard and garden. For more information about the orchard, click here.

Sound barriers, alley traffic, auto circulation
Botanical Heights will be investigating possible sound barriers for I-44, as well as investigating alley traffic and auto circulation in the neighborhood with the possible opening of traffic at Thurman.
